  • Jigong Mountain Natural Reserve in Henan Province is situated in the area where the boundaries of two provinces (Henan, Hubei) meet, is the transitional region from the north subtropical to warm temperate zone. The woody plants in southern and northern areas are relatively abundant. According to the preliminary statisticy, the woody plants comprise 543 species(Incl, app. and var.) in 181 genera and 71 families. Among them, for Gymnospermae, there are 5 families, 5 genera and 7 species; for Anginospermae, there are 66 families, 176 genera and 536 species; there are 12 world monotypic genera, and 9 endemic Chinese genera. Most of them are ancient or primitive in phylogenetics. The basic features of woody plants in the flora are briefly summarized as follows: (1)The floristic elements are comparatively rich and show more obvious transition; (2)The most species are typical composition of the subtropical and temperate zone; (3)There are many ancient and relic elements. The geographic distribution of woody plants in the flora can be divided into 14 types, in which the genera of the temperate and subtropic distribution patterns make up 65.0%, and the genera of tropics 35.0%.
