  • We measured specific leaf area(SLA),and mass-based(Nmass) and area based(Narea) leaf nitrogen concentrations for 30 plant species in the Huoshan Mountain of Shanxi province. The collected data were further compared between three different plant functional types. The results showed that the order of the average SLA and average Nmass was grasses>shrubs>trees, while average Narea was trees>shrubs>grasses. This suggested that different functional plants have different traits to adapt to their environment. For species,SLA was positively correlated with Nmass but negatively correlated with Narea, which showed the similarity of their leaf traits in the environment.
