Study on Mass Production of Phycobilins from PC Rich Strain of Spirulina platensis

  • Fresh algal material of the phycobilins rich-strain of Spirulina platensis SP(NS-90020) was used to separate and purify PCby means of gradient salting out. Precipitates of extracts were processed by chromatographying on hydroxylapatite(HA). The procedure of extraction and purification was proved to be simple and efficient, suitable for mass production of PC. Data of SDS-PAGE showed that the molecular weight of PCand APCwere about 38 kDand 33 kD, respectively.
