Abstract

Phylogeny of 22 genera of Hamamelidoideae was recontructed based on the sequences of internal transcribed spacers(ITS) and 5.8S coding region of nuclear ribosomal DNA.Three tribes can be recognized:(1) Loropetaleae Zhang trib.nov.:Corylopsis,Maingaya, Matudaea,Embolanthera,Tetrathyrium and Loropetalum. (2) Dicorypheae Zhang trib.nov.:Dicoryphe,Trichocladus,Neostrearia,Ostrearia,Noahdendron,Eustigma,Fortunearia,Sinowilsonia and Molinadendron. (3)Hamamelideae A.D.:Fothergilla,Hamamelis,Parrotiopsis,Distylium,Distyliopsis,Sycopsis,Parrotia and Shaniodendron.
