A STUDY ON THE QUANTITATIVE CLASSIFICATION OF FOREST COMMUNITIES OF DALAOLING REGION AT THE THREE GORGES

Based on survey of substantial community plots, a quantitative classification of the forest communities at Dalaoling region, the Three Gorges, is performed with TWINSPAN (Two Way Indicator Species Analysis) method.According to that, the height range of the vertical bands of vegetation at this region is divided;and the forest vegetation types of Dalao ling region are summarized.At last, the characteristics of TWINSPANand the rules should be obeyed in application to the subtropical forest with complex structure are discussed.
