  • This paper reports the chromosome numbers and karyotypes of two species of genus Peucedanum L.and three populations of Notopterygium forbesii in Umbelliferae.Among them, the somatic chromosome numbers and karyotypes of two species of Peucedanum are reported for the first time. The chromosome numbers of all species are 2n=22.The karyotype of P.turgeniifolium only consists of metacentric chromosomes and P.songpanense consists of metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes. The karyotypes of all three populations of N.forbesii are composed of metacentric, submetacentric and acrocentric chromosomes. The karyotype of P.turgeniifolium Wolff belongs to "1A"and P.songpanense belongs to "2A".In the three populations of N.forbesii, the population of Mabianshan 1(altitude:1820 m)and that of Laojunshan(altitude:1 950 m)belong to type of "2A",but that of Mabianshan 2(altitude:2610 m)belongs to type of "2B".
