Abstract:
The leaf and fruit vitamin C contents of two
Actinidia populations were studied and the correlation coefficients were measured. One population consists of 32 cultivars of
A.chinensis and the other is an interspecific population of 22 individuals. There’s a significant positive correlation between the young and mature fruit vitamin C content among the
A.chinensis cultivars, and significant positive correlation between the mature leaf and mature fruit vitamin C content among the interspecific hybrids. This provided a scientific basis for the feasibility and practicality of early selection in
Actinidia breeding. In addition, the results of multiple comparisons among the fruit vitamin C contents of famous cultivars provide some hints for choosing parents in breeding for high fruit vitamin C content.
