Abstract:
The studies on germination of seeds of
Belamcanda chinensis (L.) DC.inflenced by temperature were carried out.The seeds of "Shegan"
Belamcanda chinensis (L.) DC.germinated at 5~30℃.Under the condition of the constant temperature, the germination rates of the fresh seeds were very low and the germinating continued for long time. When the temperature changed from low or high temperature to the 15~25℃, it increased the germination rates.Inversely, if the temperature changed from 15~25℃ to low or high, the germination rate is dropped. The germination rate changed little when the temperature was alternated among
15~25℃.In the day and night alternation of temperature treatment, that is 30℃(day 8 h )/15℃(night 16 h) and 35℃(day 8 h)/20℃(night 16 h), both of the germination rates reached 64%.Periodic alternation of temperature treatment, that is 20℃(5 d)/30℃ (10 d), 20℃(5 d)/10℃(10 d) and 20℃(5 d)/35℃(10 d)/20℃(5 d)/10(10 d), germination rates were 54.5%, 20%, and 355% respectively.The time of the seeds dealt with 5℃ and 35℃ within
40 d, as the time of the seeds treated increased, the speeds and germination rates increased relevantly. The germination rates of the seeds stored at -5℃ for one year, were higher than that of the fresh seeds under the condition of the constant temperature, but the germination rates were higher than that of the fresh seeds, but the germination rates of the alternating temperature treatment were lower than that of the fresh seeds. It seemed that the results were the effects of low temperature on the seeds. As the storage time increased, the viability of seeds decreased, but the decreased extent was not obvious.
