STUDIES ON PHYSIOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTER IN SUSPENSION CULTURE OF BERBEBIS JULIANAE SCHNEID CELLS Ⅴ.CELL GROWTH,RESPIRATION,ABSORPTION AND CONSUMPTION OF MAJOR NUTRITIONAL ELEMENTS

  • This paper reports the relationship between cell growth, respiration, and absorption, consumption of major nutritional elements in suspension culture of Berberis julianae Schneid cells.During the cells were transferred into fresh medium, cell respirationintension and absorption of major nutritional elements were increased rapidly.Respiration intension was maximal about on 8th day after inoculation.Phosphate ion(PO43-)was completely depleted and half of K+ and NO3- were consumed in the medium on6th day after inoculation. The change of respiration intension is related to the absorption of major nutritional elements in the medium. The absorption rate of (PO43-)is faster than that of K+ and NO3-.Cells continued to grow well after (PO43-)had disapeared from the medium. This results are benifited the optimize medium composition for biomass production.
