A COMPARISON OF FUZZY C-MEANS ALGORITHM CLUSTERING AND TWINSPAN IN VEGETATION CLASSIFICATION

  • Fuzzy c-means algorithm clustering and TWINSPAN (Two-way indicator species analysis) were applied to the classification of woodland and moorland grasslands in Aber Valley in Nortbern Snowdonia,Wales and their results were compared with each other. These two methodologies provided identical results.However, fuzzy c-means clustering is,to some degree,superior to TWINSPAN because its results were shown by memberships.
