Peridinium polonicum,A New Record of Freshwater Toxic Dinoflagellate from China

In 2006,a species of dinofiagellate was collected from Xiangxi River,Hubei Province.By observation of optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy,it was identified as Perdinium polonicum,a new record in China.Literature indicated that it is a toxic blooming-species in lakes or ponds;and causes mortality of fish.This species is the only record of freshwater toxic dinoflagellate currently;its impaction on environment and ecology need to be further concerned.
