A Misapplied Name in the Genus Delphinium (Ranunculaceae) from China

  • Delphinium tenii Lévl.has long been applied as the name of a common Delphinium species with glabrous inflorescence axis and pedicels in northwestern Yunnan,China.Examination of the type collection of this name has shown that the inflorescence axis and pedicels are densely retrosely puberulent. Delphinium tenii is thus not essentially different from D.tatsienense,a species rather widely occurring in Sichuan and Yunnan. The correct name of the specimens previously referred to D.tenii is considered to be D.yuanum Chen.
