A PRELIMINARY REPORT ON THE FLOWERING HABITS OF CHINESE SACRED LILY IN WUHAN

  • During November 14th 1984 to January 31st of the next year, the commercial bulbs of Chinese sacred-lily(Narcissus tazetta var. chinensis Boem.) from Zhangzou, Fujian were cultured in water on the natural temperature condition in Wuhan. We have observed their flowering habits and discovered that it needed 47 to 87 days from cultivating to flowering. And it appeared that when the water culture began earlier, the days between water culture to flowering were longer than those later The flowering period of the first flower and the first scape, even the whole flowering period of each bule were recorded in detail. All of these flowering periods showed obvious relationship to the average temperature of flowering period: when the average temperature was higher, the flowering period was reduced.
