  • The effect of light quality on growth and biochemical composition of marine diatom Biddulphia sinensis were investigated.Cell growth rate was greater in white light than in blue or red light.Chlorophyll and protein synthesis were markedly stimulated by blue light, whereas carbohydrate synthesis rate increased under red light.Lipid content somewhat decreased under blue or red light.
