STUDIES ON THE COMMUNITIES OF AQUATIC VASCULAR PLANTS IN CHANGHU LAKE

  • The Changhu Lake lies in the south of Hubei. It covers about 133.2km2, and is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Hubei Jianghan Plain. According to our investigation on the lake there are 12 associations which are composed of forty species of aquatic vascular plants. The distribution of aquatic vascular plants in this lake exhibits irregular zonations and can be classified into four plant zones from the edge to the middle of the lake, the hygrophytes, emerged plants, floating plants and submerged plants. The biomass of aquatic plants decreases with the increasing of water depth.
