Textual research on the type locality and morphological supplement to Adenophora pinifolia Kitag., an endemic species in China

  • The type specimens of Adenophora pinifolia Kitag., an endemic species in China, were collected from Dafangshen in Liaoning Province. Since its first publication in 1935, it has only been recorded in four other documents in China, with only one paper mentioning the voucher specimens. Based on our first-hand data from field observations and collections from 2013 to 2018 in Dalian, combined with the original documents and type specimens, the type locality was confirmed as the Dafangshen area, and with supplementary description provided. In addition, erroneous descriptions of external morphology in the original documents and related literature have been corrected.
